Submitted by Lynne Signore, SRTC Health Occupations Instructor and Skills USA Co-Advisor:
During the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, June 22nd Tim Fecteau (Skills USA Co-Advisor), Sam Fecteau, Joey Gardner, Ian Kelly and Bailee Robichaud (from Presque Isle) and I headed off for the 50th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City! We met former SRTC program completers Ina and Emilio Rijo and a competitor from YCCC, Matthew Francois there for an exciting week which consisted of 99 total contests and over 6,000 competitors!Sam attended as a post-secondary State officer (Historian), Joey attended as a competitor in Cabinetmaking, Ian attended as a competitor in Technical Computer Applications and as a secondary State officer (Vice President), Ina attended as post-secondary State officer (President) and Matthew attended as a competitor in Technical Drafting. SkillsUSA Maine, SRTC and YCCC should be PROUD by the character and integrity these students brought to Kansas City. No one left with medals but the experience they gained in competition, leadership and citizenship is priceless.
Congratulations to all Skills USA National Leadership and Skills Conference attendees; SRTC is proud of you!
