The second-year student builds on skills obtained from the first year.  This course gives students the technical knowledge and industry know-how required to install, configure, and troubleshoot computer networks.  Topics include the OSI Model, TCP/IP, Ethernet, topologies, hardware, VLAN configuration, network design, wireless transmission, and security concepts.  Students will have the opportunity to use both hardware and software simulations to increase their skills.  In addition to the the network topics covered in this class, students will write more advanced BASH and Python scripts.  If a student exhibits academic excellence, they may participate in a dual enrollment program with Southern Maine Community College or take advantage of the articulation agreement with York County Community College.  This will allow the student to receive college credit while he/she participates in a high school course.  Students who have not attended the first-year program may still participate in their senior year with instructor permission.
