The demand has never been greater for Graphic Arts professionals. The first year of Graphic Arts is designed to provide students with introductory exposure to the huge and diverse fields of Graphic Design, Printing/Publishing and Photography. This class uses industry standard software offering students the tools and skills needed to successfully complete assignments and live jobs from partner schools and community projects from non-profit groups. Starting with an idea to the final completion of a piece, students are involved in every aspect from research, layout & design, typography, photography, image assembly, manipulation techniques, printing, and bindery. Students spend time studying Screen Printing, Digital Printing and Digital Photography both in formal classroom presentations to hands-on lab sessions. Students start to develop an understanding in customer relations, scheduling and time management. Each student assembles a portfolio and compiles samples from all three career areas which include Graphic Design, Photography and Printing/Publishing.
This course meets Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, and Fri.
This course is held at Sanford Regional Technical Center in room V-9.
