The second year of a two-year program is designed to prepare students for continuing education and entry-level employment in the Graphic Arts Industry and related field. With industry standard software, tools and equipment students learn skills needed to successfully compete in the world marketplace. Student assignments and real-world projects afford students an excellent hands-on experience. As the year progresses students may elect to specialize in one career area whether it be Graphic Design, Photography or Printing/Publishing. Their portfolios will reflect their area of concentration. Students develop and improve their skills in customer relations and maintaining positive attitudes with peers, clients, vendors and the graphic arts profession. Students are placed in many situations to improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills. Career paths for students can include but not limited to the following list; Graphic Designer, Estimator, Freelance Artist, Pre-Press Imaging Specialist, Press Operator, Production Designer, Customer Service, Screen Imaging Technician, Web Designer, Photographer, Supervisor, Manager, Art Director, Sales, Bindery and Finishing Technician, Advertising Specialist, Illustrator, Screen Printer, Photo Journalist, Digital System Operator, Writer, Editor, News Photographer, Sign Maker, Entrepreneurship, Business Owner, Multimedia Specialist, Image Specialist, Advertising Photographer, Fashion Photographer, Fashion Designer, Greeting Card Specialist, Packaging Designer, Financial Printing Specialist.
