Sanford Regional Technical Center FIRST Robotic Team 3451 (Rookie Year)
The students in the Sanford Regional Technical Center’s Engineering Technology Program are starting an exciting new challenge this year by building a robot to compete in the Granite State Regional FIRST Robotics Competition in Manchester, NH March 3rd through the 5th. We will be competing against 40 other teams from as far away as California.
We have been awarded grants from NASA and Fairchild Semiconductor to pay for the registration fee. Now we need to raise funds to pay for travel and parts. We are also looking for mentors to help guide the students as they build; as well as materials to help defray the cost of parts.
The team is a part of FIRST Robotics, an organization with a mission to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders. FIRST Robotics engages students in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills. It inspires innovation and fosters well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. There is expected to be over 2200 teams and 55,000 high school students involved in FIRST this year
The Sanford Regional Technical Center serves students from Sanford, Massabesic, Marshwood, Noble, Wells, York and Traip High Schools. Although the Engineering Program is spearheading this effort, other programs will be involved as we get the project off the ground.
The Sanford Regional Technical Center has always received generous support from the community which is what gives us the confidence to pursue this new and exciting adventure. Please consider sponsoring Team 3451 during our rookie year in FIRST robotics. Sponsors will have their names displayed on the robot and our t-shirts.
