Sanford Regional Technical Center Annual Activity
On Thursday, 9/28, nearly 500 students and staff participated in our Annual Sanford Regional Technical Center Activity Day. The goal of this event was to bring students together from 18 different programs (included two that are located at satellites sites) and 8 partners schools to bond and feel a part of one center. The offerings were abundant and included soccer, disc golf and board games to name a few. It was neat to see the students from the Early Childhood Education program take on a potpourri (from Welding, Automotive and Electrical Wiring) of students in Tug-o-War and win, watching the friendly competition between programs on the Kick Ball field or see who was the fastest in the Fire Science Dry Hose Muster or “Fast Freddy” EMS competition. Students came out of their shell while belting out the lyrics during karaoke from songs such as “Party in the USA” or “Hey Jude”. There was freshly made apple cider donuts (compliments of Culinary Arts), popcorn (donated by Smitty’s Cinema), drinks (donated by Hannaford), apples (from McDougal’s Orchards) and our Landscaping and Horticulture’s homemade (in collaboration with Ferment Farm and Giles Family Farm) Apple Cider for consumption.
Scanning the field seeing all the interaction I thought back to our admissions process and that they probably never imagined getting to do this when they were in their interview! This was an unusual but really cool day at SRTC!
