The first-year student has the opportunities to install and configure both computer hardware and software. This includes RAM, hard drives, CPUs, system boards as well as peripheral components. Networking concepts utilizing physical routers and switches are also provided to the student allowing for additional hands-on learning. Online simulation software is used to supplement the hands-on labs. In addition to the A+ hardware curriculum, basic programming skills will be demonstrated in the class and students are given a chance to practice their skills by creating simple scripts. Python, DOS and the BASH shell scripting languages are employed allowing the students opportunities to test out their code.
